10 Reasons C-Teams Matter

As many of you know, budget cuts have forced Marysville School District to pay for their own C-Team Sports. This would be a devastating blow to the students who participate in these sports and the community as a whole. However, there are ways that you can help save c-team sports at MGHS!

One way to show your support is by sponsoring a hole at our upcoming golf tournament on Friday, August 16. By sponsoring a hole, you will be not only be helping to raise funds for c-team sports, but you will also be promoting your business or organization to the community.https://www.greenandgoldboosters.org/product-page/ggbc-golf-tournament

Another way to support our cause is by gathering a group of 4 friends to play in our golf tournament. Not only will you have a great time out on the course, but you will also be making a difference in the lives of the students who rely on c-team sports for their athletic development. If golf isn't your thing you can still help by donating directly to our GiveButter fund. Every dollar counts, and your donation will go directly towards keeping c-team sports alive at MGHS. https://givebutter.com/G12Wjs

No matter how you choose to help, you can feel good knowing that your contribution is making a difference in the lives of students at Marysville Getchell High School. Let's come together as a community to save c-team sports and ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in athletics. Thank you for your support!

Here are 10 reasons C-Team Sports Matter:

1. Skill Development:

- Fundamental Training: C-Teams provide a platform for freshmen and less experienced players to learn the basic skills and rules of the game in a structured environment.

- Incremental Learning: Young athletes get the chance to gradually build their skills, preparing them for more competitive levels in the future.

2. Safety:

- Age-Appropriate Competition: By having C-Teams, freshmen can compete against peers of similar age and physical development, reducing the risk of injury that might occur when younger players face much older, more physically mature opponents.

- Proper Guidance: Coaches can focus on teaching proper techniques and safety protocols, which are essential for preventing injuries.

3. Confidence Building:

- Positive Environment: Playing with peers allows younger athletes to gain confidence in their abilities without the intimidation of competing against older, more experienced players.

- Personal Growth: Success and progression in C-Team athletics can foster a sense of achievement and personal growth, encouraging students to continue participating in sports.

4. Teamwork and Social Skills:

- Bonding: Freshmen get the opportunity to build strong bonds with their classmates, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork.

- Leadership Development: Early exposure to team dynamics helps students develop leadership and communication skills, which are beneficial both on and off the field.

5. Academic Balance:

- Time Management: Participation in C-Team athletics helps students develop essential time management skills as they balance practices, games, and schoolwork.

- Academic Eligibility: Maintaining eligibility for sports often motivates students to keep their grades up, promoting academic success.

6. Increased Participation:

- Opportunities for All: C-Teams provide more students with the opportunity to participate in athletics, ensuring that even those who may not yet be at the varsity level can still be involved in sports.

- Retention: Keeping freshmen engaged in athletics increases the likelihood that they will continue to participate in sports throughout their high school career.

7. Pathway to Higher Levels:

- Talent Development: C-Teams serve as a feeder system for junior varsity and varsity teams, allowing coaches to identify and develop young talent.

- Experience Building: Early competitive experience prepares athletes for the higher levels of competition they will face as they advance.

8. Character Building:

- Discipline and Responsibility: Participation in sports teaches students discipline, responsibility, and the importance of hard work and perseverance.

- Resilience: Students learn to handle both victories and defeats, building resilience and a strong work ethic.

9. Community Engagement:

- School Spirit: C-Teams contribute to overall school spirit and community involvement, as friends, family, and classmates come out to support their teams.

- Role Models: Younger students look up to C-Team athletes, creating a positive cycle of inspiration and aspiration within the school community.

10. C-Team athletics are foundational in shaping well-rounded, skilled, and confident student-athletes who are prepared to take on greater challenges both in sports and in life. Their importance cannot be overstated, as they lay the groundwork for future success and personal development.
